San Giovanni Nepomuceno Festival: Caoria's spring celebration in the Vanoi valley

Caoria, the last village in the Vanoi valley before the Lagorai range, celebrates its patron saint, San Giovanni Nepomuceno, in mid-May. It is a true community festival, with nothing staged: church bells rung in celebration, Alpini cooking under the marquee, music into the evening. An authentic way to discover the Vanoi, one of the quietest valleys in Trentino.

The programme

Bells, Alpini and music in Caoria

The 2026 edition opened on Saturday 16 May: in the early afternoon the campanò, a traditional concert of hand-rung bells, followed by a book presentation by local authors, the opening of the food stand in the Alpini marquee and an evening of Tyrolean and pop music.

The festival is also a chance to visit Caoria's small museums: the First World War exhibition, the nativity scene collection and the House of the Vanoi Ethnographic Trail. By tradition, a prize also goes to whoever guesses the weight of the deer antlers gathered in the village's wildlife area.

The programme changes from year to year: for times and details, refer to the ApT San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero e Vanoi website.
