Festa delle Brise e del Bosco: porcini mushrooms take centre stage in the Vanoi valley

In the local dialect, brise are porcini mushrooms, and in the Vanoi, a valley made mostly of forest, they get a festival of their own every September. Two days of crafts and local produce, food stands and themed menus in the valley's restaurants, with two forest outings led by experts to learn how to recognise Boletus edulis.

The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September; in 2025 the festival was held in Canal San Bovo. The detailed programme is published by the ApT shortly before the event.

The expert-led outings are the best way to approach mushrooms with respect: in Trentino, foraging is governed by precise rules on permits, quantities and permitted days, always worth checking before heading into the woods.
